water purifier?
My brother in law is looking to buy some sodium hyperchlorite solution 14-15%. Is it readily avilable in Spain? Pool shops? Drugarias? La Herradura area preferably. He can get it here in the UK, 25 ltr for £36, but he's flying out not motoring. Any advice would be appreciated.

I once saw it in Perez Lazaro in Salobrena. You could also try Carbonell.
I assume it's for the pool so why can't you use the powder?

Hi Sid, no it's to dose a separate small tank to feed the house taps and shower. Neville has this big issue with the risk of Legionaires.

You could still use the powder - just dissolve it first or drop a tablet in the bottom.

I have bought the solid NaOH pellets in a bazaar in Torre Del Mar. Dissolve in warm water. Carefully!

Showering in caustic soda? That sounds painful!

Duhh, I got it wrong. Evidently its not going to be a separate tank, but an on demand dose generated by the pump? ........... I think! Thanks for suggestions for suppliers Sid. PS how are the roses

So it's a system designed to inject a small amount into the supply just before use.Sandramay wrote:Duhh, I got it wrong. Evidently its not going to be a separate tank, but an on demand dose generated by the pump? ........... I think! Thanks for suggestions for suppliers Sid. PS how are the roses
I'm not sure if it would be in contact with the water long enough to sterilize it. It might be easier to have a short shower and hold your breath!
The roses are coming along nicely. They were pruned by the 10th January and are throwing out lots of leaves now. The first bloom will be in about two weeks but they will be at there best end of April. You might see a few while you are out here!
Regards
Sid
