Movil telephones

Postby Sutherland » Tue Mar 06, 2012 4:21 pm

Does anyone know of an English speaking shop where I can buy a mobile telephone?
Torre del Mar - Velez Malaga or not too far from that area.

most of the staff at 'The Phone Warehouse in El Ingenio CC have a reasonable grasp of English.

Be careful which network you opt for - there is little reception round my way for a Vodafone, my Moviestar is mostly ok etc. Talk to some neighbours and see what they use, or you could end up with something that will only connect in central Málaga!
And if you end up with Moviestar remember to get them to put down the UK as your chosen non-Spanish favourite - saves you loads but they don't offer it, just make you ask for it.

We had been with vodaphone for the last 3 years and after getting such big bills wanted to change to another supplier. We went to the phone shop in el ingenio's, the staff were so helpful and all spoke very good english, we have now changed to yogo the contract is 30 euros a month with 360 min of free calls.

Deb, sorry, don't want to be pedantic about this, but there are 4 or 5 'phone shops' in El Ingenio. Which one did you have the successful dealings with?

I'm sure Deb meant Yoigo.
There is only one Yoigo phone shop in El Ingenio, but The Phone Warehouse also supplies phones on the Yoigo network along with all the major networks.

And that is why I asked Deb which shop she bought in and which shop had the helpful staff who all spoke English. Was it the Yoigo shop or was it The Phone Warehouse or even another?  (back).

After being in Spain since 2005, why the need to have English-speaking shop staff?

There's a shop in Calle Princesa in Torre del Mar. It's across from a Chinese shop. The owner is Moroccan and speaks English. I post this in case you are looking for an unlocked (unblocked) phone. You'll get one for around €20.
