New golf course in Axarquia
New golf course in Axarquia
This was in the Olive press.
The complex, 3km north of Chilches, is expected to be completed between 2020 and 2050.
Will any of us be here still??

Wow! That's almost as quick as HS2 in the UK!
I also read today that the proposed changes to the UK TV licence will not come into effect until 2026. That is seriously fast progress.

I think HS2 is a bit more complex than a bit of a putting greenEl Cid wrote:Wow! That's almost as quick as HS2 in the UK!

Not really. By the time you get through the Spanish planning process it is far more complicated and definitely more useful than HS2.Devils Advocate wrote:

Why would anyone want to get from London to Birmingham, or Heaven forbid, Liverpool quickly?
Much better to be playing golf in the Axarquia!

If you like golf then maybe. Most golfists I've ever met are stuck right up their own @rses anyway

HS2 won't happen when UKIP hold the balance of power. Is/was a stupid project anyway.
We like a game of golf but I think it is a mistake if Axarquia go down the golf course route. Most built in the last 15 years have just been a gimmic to stuff lots of properties around a few green bits. Inferior golf courses, inferior apartments. Better to improve the courses they have. Many of the courses on the Western CDS are struggling financially.

You don't like Liverpool then Sid? If you haven't been recently may I suggest you go. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.

Hiya Les, to be fair to Sidney I think he was tongue in cheek (as I was), as he knows I was born and bred in LiverpoolLen S wrote:You don't like Liverpool then Sid? If you haven't been recently may I suggest you go. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.
I still go there most weekends as I'm only half an hour away now and as you say it is a stunning city with the redevelopment that has gone on there over the years, the dock areas must be the best in the world both for size and history, a fabulous day out with so much to see.
Also, and joking aside the clean up of the Mersey is a credit to the governments both past and present.
The seaside resort of New Brighton now has beaches cleaner and whiter than anything I've seen on the CDS, a pleasure to go there and glimpse the seals and wildlife a touch further up the estuary. A stunning coastline.
Oh, and to keep the thread on a golf theme, the peninsular boasts more world class links courses than any other area I can think of..........shame I don't do golf though

Agree about Liverpool. We spent 2 days recently for a funeral and another day would have been good. About 20 years since I last visited and crumbs what a difference. Lovely restored elegant buildings. Good restaurants, lovely people. They should do trips from London.
