Intermittent Freesat channels
After the move of channels to the new satellite quite a lot of channels remained without having to move dishes etc. obviously not BBC, ITV etc. However, we have found that around 11am many of the remaining channels disappear, giving the message No Signal Received. This lasts for about ten minutes, then they return. We've noticed this for several days. Included in the affected channels are the CBS group and Sky News plus others. Has anyone else had this!
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

It happens every year in March and October.
At around 11am the sun is immediately behind the satellite and swamps the signal for a few minutes.

Thanks Sid. Haven't noticed it before but maybe not watched as much morning TV previously

On Intelsat907 we have lost signal for about ten plus minutes each day at about 3 pm...logically this is for the same reason, allowing for the position of the sun to the dish aimed further west. It comes back if left and just loses a bit of Judge Rinder...

Sky news has been playing up around 9.30 am in Rincon del la Victoria.

If anyone is interested in the physics of this phenomenon an explanation can be found here:

This could be the sun in the area of an uplink satellite (uplink from sky studios, to astra uplink site?).... Sky News International on Astra1 at 19 east also suffers at around that time also...costakid wrote:Sky news has been playing up around 9.30 am in Rincon del la Victoria.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

It went off at 15.04 and came back at 15.20.peteroldracer wrote:On Intelsat907 we have lost signal for about ten plus minutes each day at about 3 pm...logically this is for the same reason, allowing for the position of the sun to the dish aimed further west. Unfortunately it is also at that approximate time that they seem to change the codes. You can easily tell the difference. If it's a code change you get the "scrambled" on screen message. If it's the sun, you get the "no signal" message.

Re: Intermittent Freesat channels
Maybe you have a different box. I have the GI Mini HD
The other option is to look at the "info" details which should show signal strength and quality. If it's the sun outage the quality figure will be very low. If it was an encryption problem the quality would not be affected.
