Benamargosa

Postby C0C05 » Tue May 12, 2015 2:19 pm

Hi,
We have found a property in Benamargosa, and we were wondering if anyone can give us an insight of the village and surrounding area?

Are there any expats living in the village or nearby and what is it like in the winter months?

Thanks in Advance

Nice enough place. A bit hotter than the coast in summer and a little colder in the winter. Easy access to everything. Good road links to the airport, coast and inland Spain.

Two half-decent supermarkets as well.

Great little village, nice bar in main square and yes a few expats living there, not sure on numbers but possibly a couple of dozen or so. As said very accessible to everything. Always had a good feeling about the place the times I've been there.

Our first house was in Benamargosa abd we still have it. There are quite a few brits there. We find the locals friendly and we very caring when I went into hospital. Quite a lot of euros being spent on it at the momentwith a new sports hall/gym. Every year they hhave a fiesta del campo with free beer. ten bars at the moment but eleven in the summer when-the public swimming pool opens. Two supermarkets, twohairdressers , three banks butcher, and a fishmonger. Another bonus is the central salud (medical centre a well served village.
I've got an inferiority complex, but it's not a very good one!

Thank you for all your responses. We have a great feeling about this village and that has been confirmed in your replies.

The property we are looking at needs allot of work done to it so I will be back on the forum doing some research.

Thanks again

Is there any flooding in Benamargosa or anything to be concerned about in the area? We have had a few houses pop up in our online house search ?

Thanks

Been quite a few floods. Last one, the river burst its bank. The water came right up to the supermarket door.
Campo Steve has afew pics. He could possibly upload them once he's back.

Hi,
We bought the house a few months back, met some really lovely people from the Village and fell in love with benamargosa that little bit more  . Lots to do and see in the surrounding areas, as well as all the fiestas held in the village itself, there seems to be 2/3 events a month at least! The community swimming pool has a beautiful little garden and there is such a lovely feel to the village.

Couldn't be happier!

Thanks Coco5 for the update, we are over looking in the area next week, we haven't initially got this on our list of properties to view but will certainly now have a look. Are you in the village itself. It sounds lively enough of a place, is it easy to integrate and do you need to speak the language there? We are going to learn it. Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
