Forum Upgrade
Hi there, just to let you know there there are some forum upgrades taking place this week. Hopefully there will be very little down time. Changes will be more security upgrades behind the scenes. Hopefully it might fix some of the functionality bugs as well. Admin.

Re: Forum Upgrade
I have to say imho this forum runs as sweet as a nut already compared to some I know. Our car club has just spent 50k on something (is it called Drupal?) and it is hideous and unfathomable.

Re: Forum Upgrade
There are a lot of bugs that have developed over time and need fixing, such as reporting posts, long URLs, searches etc. Then, of course, there are potential security issues that need fixing.
Hopefully they will get fixed during the upgrade.

Re: Forum Upgrade
I am not aware that the upgrade has been carried out. When I last spoke to Chris Chaplow about it, I mentioned the problems such as the URLs and he was going to get the team to look at it before they look at upgrading. That does seem to have been fixed now. The report post still doesn't work.
I will find out what the current situation is.

Re: Forum Upgrade
Sorry - the URL still doesn't work without using the URL tags. It works when you preview it, but not when you post it.
Also, I have just had it confirmed that the upgrade has not been done, but is imminent - you will probably know it has been done when your screen goes blank

Re: Forum Upgrade
I don't think it was the link that failed, rather that the source on Facebook was not a 'friend', so it would not let me share the original post. Sharing it to my timeline then reposting it (with a full URL, not using the "url" key) worked AFAIK.

Re: Forum Upgrade
Hi there,
Sorry to report that the upgrades still has not happened. It is being done by phpBB and they are being very slow and have asked for passwords several times. If the upgrade does not cure the long URL issue, we will ask them to specifically address that issue. Thanks for you patience.

Re: Forum Upgrade
Enrique rightly asked us for an update.
The person contracted and paid to to the upgrade (see above) went AWOL.
We have found another person to do the work, and at their request have build a complete copy of the forum for them to test any modifications first. We are conscious that if an error brought the forum down for even a short period the members would not be best pleaded.
So things are moving forward again, albeit slowly.

Re: Forum Upgrade
Hi there,
Whist we were testing upgrade on the staging server today the live forum went down and we were forced to carry out the upgrade on the live server tout suite.
We have noticed that some of the icon are missing and will be working tomorrow to fix these.
Feel free to post here any errors that you see.
The work done was a version upgrade, and we were hoping that it would resolve the previously reported issues such as broken long links. If it has not we will have to address them separately.
Apologies for the couple of hours down time this afternoon.

Hi,
Private message works in that a Message can be sent and Email Notification goes through.
What's not working is the Message counter in Control Panel () Your Posts
Control Panel Tabs are unreadable Purple.
