Solicitor for Will

Postby SlimTim » Mon Feb 29, 2016 1:25 pm

Hello,

Can anyone recommend an English speaking Solicitor in the Torrox area please.
Need two "mirror" wills for my wife and I who have a home in the area but live permanently (for now) in the UK.
Good ,quick communication skills essential. If possible from personal recommendation
An idea of price and email address would be great thanks

Many thanks

Tim

You don't need a solicitor - a decent Gestor will do it for you.

Try Adam Rutter in Nerja at Secure Solutions 952 523925, [email protected]. He charged us €295 recently for two wills, including the notary's fees.

Is there any reason why one can not go direct to a notary, cutting out any middle man?

No there isn't, although anyone who doesn't speak Spanish would probably need to take a translator with them, both to explain their wishes to the notary and translate the completed will before signing it. I made a new Spanish will last year with a local notary and it cost €38.

Many thanks for your help.Does he hold the Wills at his Office or do you get to keep them? Its just we have a Solicitor who we are very happy with but his quote for two wills is far too expensive. Thanks

You get a copy of the will and the original is held in a central registry.
I went with a Spanish speaking friend to our local notary and my wife and I made wills for about €40 each and a meal out for our friend.
All wills have to be done at a notary.
Cheers

It's a nice little earner for these solicitors
All they've had to do in most cases, is produce a copy of the existing will with the essential clause included
For that, many charge in the region of 200-300 euros
All that should have been necessary was to have an official stamp on the existing will, stating simply that the law of his/ her nationality will apply.
