Postby Mariposa » Fri Aug 05, 2016 2:06 pm

JUst started thinking about our later years and investigating possibilities in Almunecar. There is a website with useful links nd a contact form if anyone is interested in forming a group to set something up. First meeting in October

Well you could say that, but what we have in mind is intentional community, mutual aid, and self running as you will see if you look at the links...

Should that be 'international' community ?

I am not in Spain. Please keep us posted in progress. What's your thinking. Or rather what are you outcome hopes? There may be a lot of people interested who do not necessaraly live in Almunecar at present

We are open to ideas at this point as we think it is important to have a strong group who are aiming for roughly the same outcome... an active and participatory older age win a community that offers mutual aid ...keeping costs down and buying in care as needed.

They do have something like that in the States dont they! Everyone lives on an Estate with people over a certain age and there are a lot of facilities. I do remember a friend of mine a few years ago that he was living in California on a private Estate for the over 60´s and doctors etc as well as lots of activities going on, but no one was alone and there were service for people who were disabled etc. Seems like a good idea to me. But costly I think.

an update on the Una Vida Buena project
We are forming an association at present which we are planning to turn into a housing cooperative later. This is going to be a solution to aging well here in Spain and will be a way of sharing services as we need them.
We are viewing a potential property in Almunecar on Wednesday 29 th March at 4 pm although no decisions have been taken as yet. Potential new members are welcome to take the opportunity to meet us and look round ...we think it could take a couple of hours. Please contact us on [email protected] or via the website unavidabuenasite.wordpress.com and we can give you directions or arrange lifts.
