Hi All
Does Spain have the equivalent of a Lasting Power of Attorney?
Thanks in advance

Re: Lasting Power of Attorney
I am sure there is only one kind of power of attorney in Spain but it has to be made clear which powers are granted ie.to deal with the issue of incapacity.
The granter can make it clear that the power of attorney will only come into play in the event of incapacity or, on the contrary, that it will remain valid in the event of incapacity. In any event, it becomes invalid on the death of the granter.
However, I will check with the oracle and post again if necessary.

Spanish Powers of Attorney are not usually registered, they just stay with the notary, but if you are a resident the documents of this kind that involve incapacity are communicated to a central registry.
The other point is that although a power of attorney is valid until death it can be revoked at any time.
