New Flights to Granada to/from Gatwick
According to the local paper (to me) Easyjet will be starting flights to/from Granada three times a week from February 2017 http://www.ideal.es/granada/201611/04/g ... 04651.html Weirdly it doesn't look as though the Easyjet website has been updated yet.

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

No problem! Times and prices should be available from 8/11
Re: New Flights to Granada to/from Gatwick
Be nice if they did other Uk destinations from Granada.
We used it a lot when Ryanair flew from there. First class compared with Malaga.

Did hear that they are looking at a NorthWest hub, Manchester or Liverpool.
The new route won't be started until next year, not sure when.
I loved Granada airport, and hate Malaga!

Whats wrong with Malaga?? Now all the new entry exits are open it is a much nicer airport. They were also using runway 2 last week when I was there.

Including passports Malaga is 20 minutes gate to car hire office (if on airport). Granada its 10 minutes, but all car hire is on airport. Now the motorway is complete granada is quicker for us.

Re: New Flights to Granada to/from Gatwick
We used to go from Liverpool to Granada but those flights were pulled when Ryanair spit their dummy out....Many had booked flights with them before Ryanair pulled out and had also organised car hire and hotels..never mind holiday leave from work!
Re: New Flights to Granada to/from Gatwick
I agree that the new roads to the airport have improved access .
Here is a short list of things not so good about Malaga airport.
The small roundabout near the brewery.
The hire car staff emulating, badly, F1 drivers
badly designed drop off area
Badly laid out lanes near the VIP parking upstairs.
The distance you have to travel to your vehicle when collecting people ( particularly relevant when they include disabled folk)
The distance you have to walk everywhere in the terminal. Especially since it was enlarged.
Luggage carousel. When it is quiet they never use the ones near the exit but the ones that "suit " them. In fact that is a theme reflected in the airport. It is laid out for the airport and not for travellers. I bet the architect congratulated him/herself on doing a great job.
The arrivals area is , despite a few changes badly designed.
Good things
Handling of disabled travellers is first class generally.
The beauty of Granada is everything is focussed on your flight and the terminal is quite compact.

Olive - in addition to your list here's mineolive wrote:I agree that the new roads to the airport have improved access .

No proper access to the airport from the A7 motorway other than the exit (after the tunnel) to Torremolinos which goes back on itself.
The new airport access motorway doesn't give the opportunity for hire car clients to refuel at the nearest petrol station, the one on the old airport access road.
All budget flights are from the old airport building, so quite a hike form the security control.
The beauty of Granada Airport (small is beautiful)
The car park is opposite the main doors, literally a minutes walk.
If there's a plane on the tarmac, it's usually yours.
There's a normal priced bar/restaurant/cafe next to the petrol station on the main road from the motorway.
A bus to Granada City from the airport 2€, a taxi 20€ (not so good) but it is 12km.
And lastly, handy for me because I live in Granada Province

Yep...Granada airport is ok if you need to be in that area..however if it means travelling a good few hrs in the Uk to get to an airport which flies to Granada then it's really not worth it...The drive up to Granada from Malaga is picturesque and not that bad compared to motorway driving in the Uk..A stop off at Rio Frio is a must and all part of the journey..Yes the low cost airlines do operate from the old part of Malaga airport but i have legs and i don't mind at all...afterall i'm on holiday!

I'm surprised at that as your location is Frigiliana not far from me in Torrox, but I can be at Malaga airport in 40/45mins from here and I don't think Granada would be that near (Frigiliana to Malaga airport 50 mins according to Google, but 1hr 14 mins to Granada Airport).ashtondav wrote: Now the motorway is complete granada is quicker for us.
As we live here and don't need to collect a hirecar then I find Malaga OK as we park our car at a facility close to Leroy Merlin so it's easy to get to from the eastern side of Malaga. We then let the carpark minibus driver have the hassle of the airport roads and he drops us off outside the terminal entrance. As nearly all our flights are internal we are fortunate to be able to use T3 (rather than the old terminal) and also avoid any passport control, so pretty hassle-free.

As I said that's gate to door. Malaga walk is much longer and car hire further away.
