taking money back to the UK

Postby elscouser » Sun Mar 05, 2017 2:29 pm

I need to withdraw about 6500 euros and take back to the UK. Whats the most cost effective way of doing this? I bank with cajamar but can't open a transfer wise account etc linked to my Spanish account as i am non resident. Thanks in advance.

If you can prove where it came from you could walk through the airport with it.

I recently took 7k in Euros back to the u.k with no issues, it was a mixture of 50 and 100 denominations just had them in my in 3 plastic bank envelopes in my laptop bag, nobody at Malaga or indeed Gatwick gave it a second look. I think its only amounts over 10k you have to declare under the European Cash Movement controls

Yeah not worried about carrying it back - just worry that ill lose a lot in exchange fees when back. Whats the best way to change such an amount for best rates? Thanks

On the recommendations of others on this site, I've recently used CurrencyFair, and was very pleased with the system.
