Lunch between Granada and Nerja

Looking for recommendations/suggestions.

I will be driving with a large group of visitors from Granada to Nerja and would like to stop somewhere special for lunch along the way.

By special I don't mean upmarket but more special in the way of interesting, eg with a great view, unique location, quirky decor, great atmosphere, great hosts, lovely terraza, basically just something that sets it apart. Obviously I want the food and service to be good but doesn't have to be anything unusual. Good country fare would be fantastic.

It will be June.

Share a main, they are massive. If its a Saturday or Sunday you need to book. Proper country food.

I am always on the lookout for a new place to try but am confused.

Googling shows it is in Ojen north of Marbella. Is that the one?

I know another spot which I think is el Tunel as you leave the coast motorway for inland (Antequera and Granada ) on the left. But that is not on the way from Granada to Nerja

Yes that is the correct area.
It is on the way from Granada to Nerja if you go via the outskirts of Malaga.

Yes that is the correct area.
It is on the way from Granada to Nerja if you go via the outshouts of Malaga.

It's a very long winded way of getting to Nerja. On the new motorway it's only about 90 minutes. If you come off the motorway just after the Rules dam and take the old road, the scenery is fantastic. There is a large roadhouse type restaurant called El Surtidor.

On the beach at Solobrena at the foot of the Castle.The new restaurant built on the little island . Tables on the beach or on the wooden Terrace. Touristy, obviously but lovely position.
