Automatic cars are hard to find and more expensive, but they are nearly always available if booked FAR in advance.

Yes, I always book automatics. They are a bit dearer, not as bad as they used to be. We go to Italy a lot and they are good for the very winding hilltop villages. Yes we always book quite far in advance

For those who haven't read the whole thread Gus is referring to a Scotland Wales rugby match - not car hire.

At least I think so...

Quite right Dave !!
And the car hire has been great so far! Firefly now have an office inside the car hire hall at the airport rather than in the corner of the car park. No queue and I picked up a Citroen C4 Cactus - roomy and a bit more power than is often the case. Update when I have returned and completed hire.

Arrived 27 Feb.
We were the only ones on the Malagacar minbus
No queue in the office and they upgraded the car
without asking
Good service

Nomrod

Problem is they don't ramp up the staff for peak periods, hence chaos at those times!

Well done on the upgrade, and if folks remain pleased with them through the season i will return to them as i used to be very pleased with both cars and service until my disasters of last year.

Yes, but they're often not staffed. Hence the problem.

I don't want to over-egg this as they've been a good bet in the past. I'm simply saying that at peak times, days and weeks they have a major queue issue - or they did last year. I am keen to know if they've solved that one. And that doesn't mean March the 10th, it means a hire on April 13th, for example.

Well,
That's my trip complete and another totally satisfactory performance from Firefly, especially with the new office in the car hire hall for pickups.
Returns were in the car park as usual and they had a manned drop off point. Completed paperwork, 5 minute wait for the car to be checked and signed off as ok.
Hope all of the rest of you have a good experience.

Here's hoping it's as good an experience as spending yesterday afternoon in the South Stand at HQ watching England play Scotland.

So that's the 6 nations sorted. Just the Grand Slam to celebrate next Saturday...

You could have spared me that one Dav!
Off up to Edinburgh this weekend hoping for a resurrection at Murrayfield. I'll have a few sherbets either way :-)

Just back from using Marbesol. Swift transfer to their office and processing of documentation. I got a Ford Focus for 12€. On top of that they added 110€ for a fuel and fuelling charge. So about 122€ for 10days. Probably used about 30€ of fuel so the net cost was 92€ for 12 days. CHEAP. Booked through DoYouSpain.

When I explained about not wanting their insurance they we're a little grumpy and told me that I would not have any breakdown cover. I said that is illegal (I think I'm right) and they just muttered. Then they reserved 1,500€ against my credit card ( note they didn't charge the card, they just reserved the funds.)

Took the car back today with no problems. The car itself was scratched and dented, and pretty worn out but ran ok.

I'd give them 5/10.

Thanks for that info - I will be using Marbesol in mid May for a week, so all pre-info is appreciated :-)

Gruff is using them next week, so I'm hoping for a repert from him, & I will of course report back in June !

We currently have a Marbelsol car. Its old, and scratched to hell. When they presented us the pre hire damage diagram it looked as if the car had been machine gunned. Cheap for a reason.
