You ask for a good solicitor. I see that one response is the name of a gestor - Maria Jose Cobos. I also recommend her and I use her services for accountancy and tax purposes. But she is not a solicitor. It really depends upon what you require the service for. In many cases a gestor is adequate, but there are also reasons for using a solicitor.

Just had a quick look at the above website.
One thing I noticed:-

"Who has the obligation to renew the driving license?
Renewal is mandatory for the EU drivers that have been a resident in Spain for at least 2 years.
For instance, if you become Spanish Resident in 19 January 2014, in this case you should renew your driving license starting on 19 January 2016.
This measure will affect more than one million EU drivers, who currently do not have an expiry date on their licenses or which are valid until the holder reaches 70. Some countries, such as Germany, issue driving license that never expires. This new law does not apply to Swiss nationals."

This advice doesn't seem, to me, to be correct.
I didn't "renew" my driving licence after two years.
I exchanged my UK driving licence for a Spanish driving licence just before my UK licence was due for renewal as I because I would have been 70.
So I was was using my UK driving licence here in Spain for nearly 10 years.
Was I breaking the law?
The Guardia Civil Trafficos didn't think I was.
Cheers

It is correct, but if you look carefully it says that it only applies to EU licences without an expiry date - that excludes UK licences as they do have an expiry date which is at age 70. However, they do need to be exchanged before you reach 70 but not before.

As has been said many times on this forum, if you are resident in Spain, you are advised to exchange your licence at the earliest possible opportunity.

I can see no advantage in having a non Spanish licence in Spain and many disadvantages.

So if you have a EU driving licence issued in lets say Italy, where do you renew it after you have been in Spain for two years, in Italy where you don't live?
I can see the sense in exchanging it for a Spanish licence but how and where do you renew your Italian licence?

Cheers

You have to exchange it if it has an unlimited validity.. You cannot renew it in the country of issue if it does not have an expiry date.

You will find it hard to better Jose Manuel Garzon <[email protected]> at Axarquia Solicitors. He dealt (in excellent English) with our house sale very efficiently, and at a fixed price. Unreserved recommendation!
I used to cough to disguise a [email protected] I f@rt to disguise a cough.
