iPad repair

Postby Evelyn » Mon May 01, 2017 11:44 am

I need a new screen for my iPad but my question is how do I keep my iPad safe whilst it is being repaired?

If it's locked, no one can access it. They shouldn't need access to change a screen.

If you are taking it to a store that does it on the spot see if you can stay with the device whilst they do it. Then once fixed just reset your passwords etc

They do need it to check that the repair is fully complete, they needed it on my replaced screen 2 yrs ago at the Mac store in West London. They need to test that all Touch functions are working on the new screen

I am going to take it to El Ingenio. Had good reports. If I don't have to give access ok but if I do. Maybe I can do it when I pick it up.

I assume your device is old and out of warranty or any extra Apple care, as Apple will invalidate them if you have any third party repair. If it is an old device worth a punt at the repair shop but make sure you get some kind of repair warranty ie 12 months if possible. Personally I'd always get Apple to do any repairs especially on newer devices as they are the experts.

That's no longer true, with certain conditions Apple allow third party repairs without invalidating the warranty.

There is an authorised Apple repair shop in the Larios Centre in Malaga called Goldenmac which I have used and would recommend them rather than go to the Apple Store in Marbella.

I thought the repair shop in El Ingenio was Apple(Manzana). Maybe wrong. Yes it is out of guarantee so worth the punt.

I don't think it is authorised.

This is a list of authorised repair centres.

This is only relevant to "iPhones" NOT iPads, which is what the poster has the issue with.

I missed that. Hopefully they will extend it to iPads sometime.

I agree with you, I would take it to an authorised repairer.

Just an update. I took the iPad to Manzana Rota in El Ingenio on Tuesday. They said they could do it and it could be ready that afternoon. As I couldn't get back I said I would return next day. Went back Wednesday 10.30. Fixed. Good service.

It was €65 including IVA . Eye pad mini. Still cheaper than buying a new one. 3 months guarantee.

Glad they're doing that. When I asked three months ago about an iPad Mini new screen, they said they couldn't do it.
Might try again. Good price.

I noticed today, that there is a Manzana Roto shop now open in the Totalan Centro Comercial (Carrefour).

I guess you mean centro commercial Rincon? It should really be called centro commercial La Cala as its nearer to La Cala than Rincon and even further from Totalan.

Hello yes thats a good question

Really they dont need the passcode to test those things

I took my ipad that needed a screen replacement and my sons iphone to http://www.******** its close to marbella we live in fuengirola, malaga

And they replaced the screen without needing the passcode
They did all the tests when i was there so i could see it was working i paid 65 euro total and the screen was replaced the same day very good service i took my sons iPhone there and they changed the screen in less than 10 mins !!!

Ive bookmarked there website because the kids keep destroying there phone.....
