LED lighting strips
LED lighting strips
Any recommendations? There seems to be a myriad of different kits and manufacturers. I'm looking for a kit for ambient lighting in my living room. I would like a system giving all the colours and also white light. They need not be waterproof but dimmable. And any comments on use of the connectors for going round corners. Also the use of glue(s) to hold the strips in place if the backing adhesive is not up to it. TIA
Re: LED lighting strips
All the big sheds like Leroy merlin do them. You may want to try one of the lighting specialist like Punto Luz in Avienda Velazquez in Malaga city. I think theres may be better quality.

Thanks Costakid. It's not so much where to buy them but which ones to buy.....Graham
Re: LED lighting strips
If no one can advise on here I think a lighting specialist as mentioned would be your best bet. If you then go to the big sheds because of price thats your prerogative.

Mailing Electronica (almost opposite bus station in Torre del Mar, in the long service road on the west side, bit towards the coast) sell rope and strip LEDs, plus power and dimmer units. Fascinating shop, bit like Henrys Radio and Lasky's used to be. Father and son run it; son speaks perfect English. 12v LED strip sold as a roll, and by the metre.

Re: LED lighting strips
Use a polyuretano adhesive/sealant, Sikaflex or similar such as pattex. Comes in a silicone like cartridge but is not silicone! Excellent flexible powerful adhesive. Don't use No mas clavos (no more nails) dries too hard.
Re: LED lighting strips
Provided your walls are reasonable smooth the self adhesive backing strip should be sufficient.
Many places sell them, including those already mentioned and Chines Bazaars have them.
You will notice that each place only, generally, sell one make so they will say that that make is the best.
Shouldn't need any special connectors for going around corners is the tape is quite flexible.
You will probably get good advice at Mailing Electronica as they are knowledgeable on electronics and are likely to have the correct fittings for joining strips together in needed. I believe the son, who speaks good English is generally in there in the afternoons.
Have a look at different shops to see them illuminated. White comes in variuos shades, cool white is often harsh and has a slight blue tint.
Warm white is softer and, often, easier on the eye.
Have a look at https://www.led-lighthouse.co.uk/led-st ... rip-lights there is some good advice and "how to" videos here.
Cheers

In my experience the self adhesive backing doesn't last , although to be fair the ones I have installed have been in kitchens , that's why I always use the polyurethane adhesivegerryh wrote:Provided your walls are reasonable smooth the self adhesive backing strip should be sufficient
