electrica

I was chatting to a guy after an invite dinner when last over.
He said there was 3-phase electricity in his house which is fine.
The way i was told it works was in town houses there is a 3-phase
supply outside and they are split between the housed on 1-2-3-1 basis.
He had the option of having all three, one upstairs, one downstairs
and one for the kitchen.
I did not question though i thought he was talking *beep* and there
was no point.
Someone here likely know?

Although 3ph supply is not usual in domestic properties (except the very largest) in the UK, it is often found in recent Spanish properties. OK in itself (maybe), but what is worrying is the way it is often deployed inside the house, by the installing monkeys. This can result in more than one phase being provided at a single point in the house . . . in our case, originally, a double power point above a bathroom wash basin, each socket on a separate phase, and the mirror lights above on the third! And all this signed off on a boletin and property inspection.

The test here seems to be If It Lights Up It's OK. Not good enough.

Wollie
That sounds about right.
Individual houses might not be on a 1-2-3-1 basis but a group/ street might be on 1-2-3-1 basis.
Single phase supply is good for up to a 10Kw supply above that then you need a 3 phase supply.
There was a discussion about it at viewtopic.php?t=35448
