Hi
Does anyone know where we can get a list of LOCAL holiday dates? We have just been out to shop in Torrox and Lidl is closed yet I can find no information either on the door or on line about 4th August being a holiday day for Torrox. Is there anywhere which states which days are local holidays (as I presume that is what it is) ?

Re: Local Holiday Dates
Tomorrow is Dia del Virgen de las Nieves. Maybe they are making it a "Puente" weekend.

Re: Local Holiday Dates
Mark's link only shows the main national holidays plus the Dia de Andalucia on 28 Feb. I can't see on the Ayuntamiento site where it says that everything is shut today, a day before the saint's day.
It is much more difficult to work out the local closures. We try to carry them forward on our calender each year and 5 August is the local saints day in Torrox but this year it seems that the shops are shut today and not tomorrow. Sometimes the local feria is on a different week, in Torrox it can be the last week of September or the first in October. If you think there may be something going on then you can check the shops' websites which will show whether it is open or not - both Lidl and Mercadona will show the local closures (Algarrobo Lidl is shut on Monday but Nerja remains open).
We were caught out the other week when the whole of Torre del Mar (including the El Ingenio centre) was shut for the Torre feria on 26 July. We knew it shut in September for the Velez one but didn't realise it shut for Torre too. Another date for our calendar!

Re: Local Holiday Dates
As one or two have mentioned the Saint's day is tomorrow 5th August so there seems no rhyme or reason for the supermarkets to shut today but then again whenever did Spain need a reason to do something !
