Worth checking your email accounts and changing your passwords if you have been compromised

I use two factor authentication on my important accounts such as Gmail, Amazon, Dropbox, Apple etc. Everyone should do this as it effectively renders your password irrelevant as even if you know it, it is impossible for someone to sign into my account unless they have my mobile phone.

Have to disagree, the two factor myth was proven insecure a while back now and your statement " it is impossible for someone to sign into my account unless they have my mobile phone" is incorrect, however it does add another layer of security so I agree that everyone should do it at the minimum, but it is not "unhackable"

Different password for everything, without fail!
*Yr5Gu7~Y@d}q&(%- is one I just generated on http://passwordsgenerator.net/
Then you need to remember them or store them in an encrypted file.
There are "single password" programmes available, but I don't trust anything that might go into the cloud.

Agreed, almost everything is hackable if someone tries hard enough, but I see nothing in those articles that gives me any cause for concern and it is still the best option as far as I can see, certainly better than relying on a single password.

I do use multiple passwords and use LastPass as my password manager which I find works well - but no doubt, that is probably hackable as well!

I've been using a freeware program called passwordsafe for years for password management. Stores your passwords in a local encrypted file. Like you I have a major distrust of anything that stores to "the cloud"

There is also an android version, and a USB stick version.

Can be downloaded from sourceforge.net or pwsafe.org
