Re: mosquito
Re tigers: I wondered where they were all coming from, and then I noticed lots of wriggling larvae in a very small drain in the middle of our patio. One application of bleach and the wriggling has stopped. I had assumed that they were coming from a larger body of water. If you are being attacked, fight back by looking for their breeding place.

Re: mosquito
When I first moved to Spain, I got bitten so I used a cream, which worked but I can't remember its name but I also bought some of those plugs probably from Eroski and have very rarely had a problem since.
If we need something after being bitten, we use a pen like product from a company called Bloom, you will find many insect and vermin products by them at most supermarkets. It's good because it stops the itching quickly.

My Mum who lives in Spain tells me that this stuff is the best she has used.
Re: mosquito
I've never really found a 100% effective repellent for mosquito's ,but I'm lucky as they rarely bite me because I'm like Marmite to a mozzie, they don't usually attack me more than once !!
I've always found bleach good for stopping most insects, I use it daily on our patio and around drains etc., and once a week use AguaFuerte for a deep clean.
I'm probably classed as environmentally unfriendly with the amount of bleach I use, but my theory is that it's better than epidemics spread by mosquito's etc..
I was just thinking back to when hospitals in UK used bleach , you could smell it when you entered the hospital and they where much cleaner and you were less likely to leave without contracting some other disease !

Re: mosquito
Watched a scientific programme testing all the 'remedies'. Outcome was only thing that deters the beasties is strong DEET. I now take a hold bag on holiday so I can carry a large spray bottle with me. and a cortisone ointment for after if it does happen. Really improved my holidays. I have been bitten from head to toe in the past. Sometimes the effects last for years - flare-ups. One year one of our party had to go to hospital as he was bitten all over with a virus infected mosquito. His sores were literaly huge and weeping pus

Hola
The chemists sell Halley anti-mosquito spray; I have a friend who has an allergy to Deet and this provides an acceptable alternative. You can also get "Ding Dong" Avon calling "Skin so soft" which also repels insects

Apparently Rome is to be disinfested and they are considering a ban on blood donation. It appears that some cases of Chikungka (probably wrong spelling). This disease is carried to humans by the tiger mozzies and has to be gotten rid of
