Is This a Correos Scam?

Postby Unicorn » Fri Sep 15, 2017 5:53 pm

I have received a letter,by post, apparently from Correos, saying I have a package at Madrid Airport from Sweden.

It looks dodgy to me and my name is incorrectly spelled.

Maybe it is just me being over-cautious ......and I have nothing on order that would attract the attention of customs etc.

Anyone else?

Hi Unicorn,
That is normal procedure for packages from outside EU i.e USA, If you don't do anything they will return to sender.
Came across this the other month.

As you say you don't have any connection , then just shred the letter.
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Unicorn,
I would suggest that you take the letter to your local post office, they will soon let you know if it's genuine.

Maybe you have a secret admirer sending you a gold watch...

Regards,
Gordon.

When a package arrived in Spain, which I was expecting, from the USA I got the usual card in my postbox to collect the package from my local Correos office and pay the import charges on collection.
Cheers

Sweden is an EU member, goods sent from there are not liable to import duty.

Well if you haven't ordered anything from Sweden I would guess it is a scam. Bin it.
