forum

I often intended asking this before.
This is the only forum i really use but there one i use very rarely at home.
My question here when a person makes a quick quib here on a post it creates a new post and the older post is up the line somewhere.
The forum i mention just pulls the old post into last post on the topic and ditches the older post, i just thought i mention as seems more
efficient and takes less space.

Could you try explaining this again, as I have no idea what you mean.

Big delete.
I was going to comment on what I thought wollie was saying but as I was typing my thoughts I come to the conclusion I don't understand or have a real clue as to what he is saying.

When someone comments on what another member has said this forum the original message stays where it was.
What i was suggesting is the original message and the comment should be pulled down to make it the last post
on the topic, then the message farther be automatically be deleted.
I deliberately did this as a comment to demonstrate my point.
The forum may not have the ability to do this.
I can explain again if needed.

Never seen this function on any forum I use.
If it was available I perceive that it could give problems.
In your example you suggest that El Cid original post should be deleted.
If I wanted to comment on that post then it would no longer be available.
I would have to comment on your post where you commented on the original post.
I believe it could get very confusing and messy.

Posts need to remain in chronological order, otherwise it would be impossible to make sense of a thread.
If you need to refer to the contents of a previous post when making a reply, just use the " (Quote) facility.

The original post lost me completely, I, like others, have never seen what is described. Using the quote facility works fine and I see no need to delete the post you are referring too .....I just confused myself again coffee I need more coffee :-)

Gerry,
I dont think you read my messages.
What i said was the original message with the quote replace the original message.
It not matter a bit to me but i thought forum was free to express views as we wish.

Regards.

Please continue to express your views as you wish, Wollie.
As far as I can understand what you are proposing, personally, I do not agree. So that is me expressing mine.
Forum software has been finely developed over the years to be user friendly and logical. What you are proposing is not.
