Re: Ryanair - more cancellations
I think they are targeting low volume routes well covered by other airlines out of Stansted. The CAA involvement is interesting though. They aren't keen in getting involved with airlines directly and their customer service in particular. Though O'Leary has been rather heavy handed in his treatment of customers over this.
I was speaking to someone yesterday who was flying from Malaga two weeks ago and their flight was cancelled 20 minutes before departure. The were held in a room near the departure gate for almost 3 hours with no offer of refreshment. This couple then bought a flight with Norwegian later that evening and have been trying to get compensation from Ryanair who are only prepared to refund the monies paid to them and refuse to discuss the higher balance paid to Norwegian or other additional expenses.

I can't find a list of the cancelled routes, has anyone seen it? I read that they have already emailed the latest affected passengers so all of our flights are OK I suspect.... until the next round!
Brian.
Re: Ryanair - more cancellations
Rafiki - the cancelled routes are up on Ryanair, com website - just under the blue bit where you are invited to chose your route, there is an insignificant-looking bit which includes something like "cancellations - more info" - click on that and it expands into the listing.
Happily, so far - fingers and toes crossed - the new Seville to East Midlands and Seville to Manchester ones dont seem to be cancelled ....

Re: Ryanair - more cancellations
It looks like the folk from Malaga who ended up getting the Norwegian flight are a prime example of what the CAA are on about - they should be writing direct to the CAA about their case ASAP, with copy to Ryanair of course!

If their flight was cancelled 20mins before departure why would they be held in a room for 3 hrs? surely no flight then no reason to be in a small room

Re: Ryanair - more cancellations
Ryanair have been complimented quite a number of times for being a GREAT business model!!! While many including myself have enjoyed paying less to travel it has come at the cost of their staff, as some might say cheap for a reason. Their staff must be sick to their bottom teeth and the result is many have left the company. Ryanair management must have seen what was happening long ago but probably took the attitude of there's the door when someone complained or wasn't happy..It has back fired on them and i'd hardly call them a Great business model.
Re: Ryanair - more cancellations
Business as usual despite their 5p.m. deadline today!
Just received this Email from Ryanair
"We've got over 1 million seats on sale from only £9.99! These offers are available on over 900 routes across the Ryanair network. Act fast - these deals will be snapped up.
Sale ends midnight Sunday 1st October. Travel from 10th October 2017 - 28th February 2018."

Ryanair is a house of cards that was bound to collapse eventually, stand by for "voluntary liquidation" after they've all taken their bonuses of course !!
Re: Ryanair - more cancellations
Not a chance. They have only cancelled the routes where they earn the least money. The flight that was cancelled from Malaga with 20 minutes go would have been because of a technical problem. Completely different scenario.

Re: Ryanair - more cancellations
A few things have become clearer today.
The Ryanair pilot year runs from April/March, the reason being said is that if the year starts in April Rynair can be more flexible for the busy summer Months.
This is official so i do not expect to be challenged which is becoming very much the norm here and not what i expect from "a forum"
Also it seems the the pilot contracts with Ryanair very ad-hoc, surely the employment regulator should know in advance that there should be rules
attached to people in such an important service industry.
I think they be lucky to survive as someone said earlier here but i read they are buying their own shares.
It be interesting o see what will be in an expected announcement.
