Re: IBI
We pay our IBI by Direct Debit, this is the best solution for us, as we were fine 40€ once for late payment, despite it being the fault of the Post Office and not ours. Our only reference to the IBI being paid is by our bank statement as we don't receive any paper notification.
Our Ayuntamiento is charging everybody in this area and extra 60€ for Administration Fees. Does anyone know whether this is a local, provincial or generic charge as part of the IBI bill or not relative to IBI:?:

Re: IBI
I pay my IBI by direct debit too, but I do still get a paper bill every year which has "Domiciliado" printed across it. It's useful sometimes to have the paper bill, as I've been asked for it at the tax office and is also useful to have one if you are selling the property.
I think the €60 charge is a local one, it's certainly not provincial. Possibly it has something to do with the Ayuntamiento having been checking up on unregistered alterations to properties and revising IBI bills accordingly? I did read reports some time ago saying that the charge for "regularising" such things would be a standard €60.

Our IBI is done via direct debit and we did not receive any paper confirmation over several years. This year we girded up our loins and tackled the pleasant lady in the Tresor department of the Ayuntamiento and asked politely if there was anyway we could get a paper facture/confirmation of payment/anything? Of course you can, she said and proceeded to print out 10 years worth of IBI details!

We live in the campo our nearest village is 2km but our Ayuntamiento is in Algarinejo about 14km, whenever we requested anything relating to IBI we had to go to the town of Loja 30km and to some other government building but not Ayuntamiento. Maybe we'll try our Ayuntamiento and request paperwork. Whilst we are there we'll sort out our 2 month water bill that stated we used 60,000ltrs - there's just the two of us and we don't have a swimming pool.

Re: IBI
We are with Competa and used direct debit and last year it was taken on the 12/8/2016. This year so far they haven't, I wondered the delay is from the bank or the ayuntamiento. Just talked to our neighbour and they have paid their but they had had to ask forit from the town hall.

Re: IBI
Yes I recall, I unsubscribed to any Direct Debits many years ago due to an electric bill being taken/paid twice and it took 9 months to get it refunded.truebrit wrote:Yes FT that is correct but the banks had a habit of taking it from your account early then hanging on to it.
Re: IBI
Albox IBI bills were done 2 months early this year , apparently they can legally do this . We pay ours by DD , think we might change back to paying cash , if you dont pay by DD you get a bill posted to you , you also get 2 months to pay . if you pay by DD you dont get a bill and the money is taken a week after its issued , you can go to the town hall and spend 20 minutes to an hour and request one . Seems ass about face to me , odd way to encourage people to pay DD .
