A mate of mine is having a problem setting up Smarty. Could it be true that someone is less techie than me?
Is it possible for them to set it up, or me to try and set it up, at my place, with my wifi or does it had to be set up with their wifi.
As ever, thanks

Re: Setting up Smarty
What Specifically is his issue? What is he trying to set up VPN or the DNS? On what device?......
Re: Setting up Smarty
On a laptop. For some reason cannot set up, just a bit old and non techie. It is DNS, I suspect something quite silly is happening but would prefer to look at it at my place rather than slogging all the way over there, so, with my wifi by their laptop.

Re: Setting up Smarty
Well in that case you should be able to input the DNS settings on his laptop for him on your wifi and if all good all he'd then need to do when he got home would be log in to his client area and Validate IP once back on his network. (set him up a quick link to his client area on his browser as a favourite or similar)

Re: Setting up Smarty
The online guides, and online help, for setting up SmartyDNS are excellent and easy to follow.
I assume your friend has looked at the online guides?
Cheers

Re: Setting up Smarty
I have to admit that’s the fault with the Smarty site. It takes a bit of getting used to.
The advice I’ve seen on here is to bookmark the IP settings page so if need be, thecurrent IP settings can be updayed with little fuss.

Re: Setting up Smarty
The addition of the VPN tab (and default to it) on the Smarty page is easily overlooked, and we've had to remember to hit the DNS tab! Easy mistake.
