Vehicle insurance

Postby Manchesteral » Sat Sep 16, 2017 1:17 pm

Perhaps this has been covered before, but, can anyone here give me an opinion as to which company is the most reliable to deal with for vehicle insurance in Spain, I mean specifically Spanish companies ?

Never, as yet, made an insurance claim, but I am very satisfied with the breakdown service provided by Linea Directa.

Linea Directa have a superb record in handling claims. I have been with them for 17 years in Spain, had three claims, all of which were handled to a level I would not have expected.

They have a reputation for increasing premiums on renewal, but if you argue about it you will get it reduced, often to a figure lower than you paid previously.

100% recommended by me.

You can get a quote, in English, online at https://www.lineadirecta.com/Recursos/r ... rance.html
Well you can see the details of what is covered and they phone you for car details etc and give a quote.
I don't think they have an office. All my dealings with them have been on-line/ phone.

I'm also now with Linea Directa after changing about 20 times with mainly Spanish Insurance companies, nothing really wrong with the other companies apart from them all trying to raise renewal premiums every time...
It does help that LD issue policies etc. in English and have a quite a good call centre, again available in English...
Go for it....

Gordon

We are with linea. Liberty seguros seem to have a good rep aswell. They have a special expat english speaking section. Also have offices unlike linea.

I use Liberty for all, and have had three house damage claims dealt with promptly and satisfactorily and their breakdown service which I can barely believe, car taken to main dealer in Velez, then auto box specialist in Malaga, then back to dealer in Elche, combined with a hire car (Enterprise) for a month and a Limo to take me from Torrox to Malaga to get the car. All at very short notice. Brilliant.

Quick question if the O.P doesnt mind. If someone who isnt the policy holder is driving the car legally and has a claim made against them does that effect the policy holders no claims bonus even if they werent involved. Bit confused as to how it works as its the car rather than driver that is insured?

Got a quote today for a 2001 Honda Deauville 2001 €600.00 per year fully comp (I think) with a €200.00 rider, that means I pay the first €200.00 of any claim, I think this is very reasonable for a high powered road/sports bike !!

OK. I get the feeling that most of you are pretty much of a positive frame of mind when considering Linea Directa.

Here's my take on them: phoned my existing company (Ibex) this morning to check the renewal premium due shortly and was reasonably, pleasantly surprised with €385. Now every year, LD phone me 'cos I once sought a quote from them and this year their figure was €540. The cover is almost identical except that LD have a very slight edge when it comes to windscreen cover, but that's not that exciting and certainly not worth an additional 40%. So I declined LD at which the telesales chica said she would speak to her manager and phone me back if they were able to improve on their figure.

So, here's the bizarre bit :wtf: She phoned back and said her line manager had queried why, 2 years ago, I had not taken up their offer when they quoted (same car, same details) more or less the same as Ibex and were wondering just why I was asking again!

Not, I suggest, a good way to gain business, by suggesting that I was wasting their time!....or is it just me? :wtf:

Well, I did. Sort of. :lolno:

What paucity of common sense gave this line manager a (pyrrhic) victory in blaming me......... the only problem is he won't see it that way.....he will think "thats sorted THAT time waster out then".
