Re: Smarty DNS
Hello Enrique,
I am using their Smartydns App on an iPad2. This App seems be for both their Smartydns and their VPN package.
So I am meant to sign in to the VPN section and use their 'auto' config for the VPN connection. I can get a connection with eg Germany, Italy and Singapore, but nothing for London.
They asked me to send them a picture of the error, but I do not know how to do that and have explained in great detail what the Error is. They also asked if I could 'ping' the London IP address directly - again I have no ideal how to do it. Their suggestions/help have been very limited and of no use so far.
Regards
Barry

Hi Alcala Barry,
Sounds like the best thing is for me to pop round, I have to go into town some time soon( next few days).
Please PM me your location and convenient times if you want to continue and get sorted.........

Re: Smarty DNS
Enrique, thanks for the offer but I am away from home at the moment. We are down in Malaga with relatives for a week or so.
Are there any suggestion that you can make which might help me sort this? I think you suggested to someone else that they change their Username and Password. I have tried this, so should I try again?
Regards
Barry

Hi Barry,
Can we take a step back.....what are you trying to achieve....
If it to use BBC iPlayer that is not working with SmartyDNS so you have to use the OpenVPN option that they(SmartDNS) recommend .

Re: Smarty DNS
My Smarty DNS is due for renewal soon. Is it still a good option even though you have to use the London VPN for BBCiPlayer (which isn't a problem).....or is there something better? Other than the BBC iPlayer issue I have never had a problem with them.

Re: Smarty DNS
I've gone back to Unblockus. I also have Smart DNS as a backup mainly because their yearly subscription is so cheap. Both offer free trials so you can try before you buy.

Re: Smarty DNS
Any reason why you favour Unblockus over Smart DNS?

Re: Smarty DNS
Smart DNS doesn’t work well with SKYgo on the PS4. Strange really because it works great with the USA Netflix’s 4k stuff.

Re: Smarty DNS
Thanks Mark, don't use SKYgo so no advantage for me then, incidentally which DNS servers did you use with SMART DNS?
Re: Smarty DNS
Did SmartyDNS ever get the BBC to work? I have given up with them now and use SmartDNSproxy.
Re: Smarty DNS
I checked their web page last night and it is still not working. Like you and a few others I am now using SmartDNS and am happy with it, so will probably stay whatever happens to Smarty.

Re: Smarty DNS
I’ve always tended to use the Ireland and Italian ones although I have used The Spanish one as well.firsttango wrote:Thanks Mark, don't use SKYgo so no advantage for me then, incidentally which DNS servers did you use with SMART DNS?
I tried various to try and get better results with SkyGo without success.

Re: Smarty DNS
Persisted with Smartydns VPN but just could not connect with any of the UK sites, even though it worked fine for Germany, Singapore, Italy etc.
Smartydns accepted that there was a fault and gave me a full refund and sent me a very pleasant email.
Have now joined up with PrivateVPN and it works very well and connects up to a London site without any hitches.
You win some and lose some.
