Cat Sitter in our home Malaga city

Postby DiannaD » Sun Nov 11, 2018 10:31 am

Hi all,
Moved here a few months ago with our 12 year old cat. We had a great cat-sitter in Italy where we lived previously...she'd come to the house when we were away, feed and water the cat, tidy the litter box and once they got to know each other he'd let her pet him. Total visit each time probably lasted 10 minutes and she'd come once a day when we were away.
Looking for someone to do the same now and wonder if anyone on the forum knows of a person who does this sort of thing in Malaga city (we live in Perchel Sur). Looking for a mature person (20 yrs+) with references and experience, which we haven't been able to find with our limited social network here so far.
Please let me know by PM if you can help, thanks a lot!

To get all 3 of the above may be a problem.

Do any of your neighbours haver cats?
If so, ask one of them if they will feed your cat.
When we are away a neighbour feeds our 5 cats.
Cheers

I know :) That's why I'm looking for help on here...we were lucky to find the person we did in Italy but I am hopeful that we'll find someone here too!

Thanks for the suggestion Gerry. We live in an apartment building and haven't really connected with any neighbours- mostly seniors who stay indoors I think (though not sure because we strangely never meet anyone in the hallway or elevator!) so haven't been able to explore that option. May have to knock on doors canvasing!

If there is a rescue centre in the vicinity, someone there might have a recommendation

Obviously if you don't know your neighbours you cant give them a door key. Seems like a tricky situation. Perhaps look at Maureen's option.

Hi DiannaD,
Depending how long you're going away for an Automatic Cat Feeder may work for the time away .

You will need to make sure the cat is happy feeding this way well in advance of your trip.
All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.

Thanks Maureen :) will contact local vets as there aren't any animal rescues in the city centre...

If i wasnt too busy with work i would do it, and could supply all three  someone local would be the best bet..

But unfortunatly in spain i feel like mulder & scully.. Trust no-one.

There is a facebook page for pet sitting called Pet Sitting Spain, Lots of people use them. There may be someone in your area, although I think they do charge.

Dear all who replied, thanks so much for your help and input! We did end up finding someone to help who lives in the city but not close to us. Luckily, she is a cat lover and happy to make the trip (sometimes twice a day) to visit, feed and water our feline. If anyone is looking for a cat sitter in Malaga city I'd recommend her so get in touch if you are looking.

Amazing that 20,000 plus people viewed this post and only 15 replied. The corona virus has slightly less readers and over 900 replies.
