No Internet
Re: No Internet
Thanks for your help Enrique, will let you know how I get on.
Re: No Internet
I eventually got through on the breakdown number and gave the guy my address. He said I needed to call the office. I eventually got through to the office where they told me I had not paid for this month. I replied that I paid a years subscription in January. I was back on within the hour.
Thanks for your help Enrique, having gone through those checks I was more confident in approaching them.

Re: No Internet
Good morning gruff,
Thanks for the feed back........always welcome.
While its up and running a couple of thing to do so next time you have a problem you can hit the ISP with the facts.
make note of the follow results.........
fire up a CMD window and type..........
ipconfig ........this will show you your Gateway IP
Next
tracert 8.8.8.8 .............this will trace a route out to the Google DNS server
The bit you're interested in is the next IP number after your Gateway IP that will be the antenna your box on the roof points to across the valley.
So next time you get a problem with " no internet"
From a CMD window ....type
ping "your gateway IP" ............... Example.... ping 192.168.1.1 should bounce back no lose
then ping the Antenna over the valley Example 10.100.0.113 what ever IP the above tracert came up with
The main problems I've had with my setup (similar to your's ) is the antenna across the valley going down so you can the get onto the ISP with the facts saves the "Call handlers" making you waste time doing stuff on your system.

All my best learning experiences start with a problem I need to solve.
Re: No Internet
ipconfig came up with a default gateway address of 192.168.1.1
When I dd a tracert on that address it didn't show any more addresses only tracing route to router over a maxmum of 30 hops.
I googled tracert and from that tried tracert http://www.google.com.
192.168.1.1
192.168.153.1
172.21.4.1
172.21.0.2
and more. I've taken a screen shot.

Re: No Internet
sounds silly.. but sometimes unplugging both the router and the roof top thingy for 30 sec - 1 min can reset things ... try that maybe ? It works with ours sometimes. (not the same providor)
