fishing licence Lake Vinuela

Postby annmarie » Sun Jul 12, 2009 10:31 pm

We have friends visiting in August who want to fish in Lake Vinuela. Can anyone tell me how they go about getting a licence. All I have found on the web is that they need to bring their UK licence with them and get the licence from an office opposite Malaga Bus station. Is this correct? :?

I know absolutely zilch about fishing, but found this, no idea whether it's correct or not! :D Seems they even have to do a written test first!
Also have a read of this, it's up to date, and the letters make for good reading!

An angling licence can be purchased in Spain from any branch of the Caja Rural and Caja Mar Banks.
Often your local licence can be purchased from the local bar, which will be appointed by the fishing authority to issue these. This is the case at Lake Vinuela where a licence may be purchased at the restaurant on the Western shore.

Don't eat the fish! It is polluted.

For a fresh water license in Andalucia you now have to take a weekend course followed by an exam, all of which is of course in Spanish. If you are found to be fishing without a license the Guardia will most probably confiscate all your tackle and may give a fine also, which can be quite hefty.
A right pain in the derriere for visiting foreign anglers but there we are.
A UK rod license is not acceptable either.

It's easy enough to get a Sea license however...

Someone said it takes 40 days to get the result of the test back, so that rules out most holidaymakers, no wonder they try doing it illegally. The nearest coarse fishing to me here in UK, you pop into the cafe near the lake, pay your £5, or whatever it is a day, and job done.

That sounds like the way you used to be able to get building licences around Lake Vinuela!

Several months ago, they came and put a sign up by the lake, saying no swimming, sailing or fishing. It's just by the Los Romanes turnround, Having said that, it doesn't seem to have stopped anyone
