Cosmetic Surgery in Spain

Cosmetic Surgery (Plastic Surgery) is an alternative and sometimes an addition to other alternative methods of staying young or otherwise changing the way you look.
From quick snip to major operation, Andalucia has recently put itself firmly on the map for this type of treatment. On the Costa del Sol, the land of the 'beach babe' and 'body beautiful' and especially in the famous strip called the 'Golden Mile' or Milla de Oro on the boulevard into Marbella, the latest cutting edge and techniques are available to look younger, slimmer and more gorgeous than ever. There are many cosmetic surgery clinics in and around the Marbella area, some housed in massive palace like buildings and other more 'down-to-earth' doctor's clinics.

Word of caution: 'cosmetic surgery' is not an official medical term and therefore a fully qualified plastic surgeon must perform any operation of this type. Many 'beauty clinics' have set up illegally in Spain, without permission to carry out medical operations. There are very few registered plastic surgeons in Málaga province (including Marbella). Some clinics are currently under investigation because operations are being carried out people who are not qualified doctors. Before you have any treatment of this kind, it is essential that you check out the qualifications of the doctors in the clinic you choose. This information is always available to the general public and they should be pleased to show it to you. There was some bad press early in 2002 regarding an illegal cosmetic surgery clinic in Madrid. Many people are delighted with the results of their cosmetic surgery, but it's worth checking out the clinic and doctors before you go ahead.
