PUERTO BANúS - AZALEA BEACH

Azalea Beach is the name of the modern macro-community of a dozen or so communities that were established on this land in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It is bounded to the west by the Rio Guadaliza and to the east by Calle Ventura del Mar.

Close to main road and on either side of the main access are shops and restaurants. On one side is D-wine, the renowned restaurant and wine shop.

You can cross the main road via the concrete pedestrian overbridge or more pleasantly along the path that runs under the bridge of the Rio Guadiza.

The district is almost entirely made up of different residential developments, all built since 1998, with just a few individual villa plots.

La Azalea is a macro-comunidad, that is to say a legal structure of grouping of different urbanisaciones which are:

La Ola
Embrujo Marbella
Costa Azalea
Azalea Beach El Lago
El Rio
Sun Beach
Privilegeo de Marbella
Embrujo Plaja
Jardins de Aldaba
Jardines de Ventura del Mar

and
Marbella High Care (Hospital)
Residencial Azul Marbella (home for the elderly)

In the north-east corner, technically not part of La Azalea, and conveniently hidden from the main road, is an original construction, Cortijo la Saleta, which has been converted into holiday apartments. The street was formerly called Calle la Saleta.

The seafront constructions are not officially part of La Azalea either. The large frontline urbanisation Ventura del Mar was built in late 1990s. During construction the progress was confidently broadcast on the first Marbella's webcam in. It consists of seven blocks in Andalucia style with beautiful semi-tropical gardens and swimming pools, with public access to the boardwalk on both sides.

There is also an overspill from Cortijo Blanco (again not part of La Azalea) - three older frontline villas which are positioned so close to the sea that they impede construction of the coastal footpath (Gran Sendero Literal) which will eventually connect of all the Costa del Sol seafront. For now, walkers and cyclists between Marbella to San Pedro use the beach.

A small road bridge joins the districts of La Azalea and Cortijo Blanco.
