The thousands of holidaymakers who fill the hotels, guesthouses and holiday apartments in Mijas every summer are testament to just what this part of the world has to offer. As with much of the rest of the Costa del Sol, the sun, sea and sand are all present and correct, as are the bars, restaurants, shopping centres and other tourist amenities. Golf is obviously a major Mijas attraction and the many fine golf courses nearby include La Cala, El Chaparral, Cabopino and Los Olivos.
Much of the accommodation can be found in Mijas Costa, along and just back from the beach-front in many cases, and in the case of the larger hotels particularly. But for a more ‘authentic’-feeling place to stay, high above the coast, the narrow old streets of the typical white village of Mijas Pueblo is home to some lovely townhouses and apartments to rent.
