Often even small cities have relatively large shops
specialising in appliances and other electrical goods. But, nowadays
these can also be purchased in department stores such as El Corte
Inglés and superstores like Hipercor, Carrefour and Al Campo.
Some discount furniture warehouses - Buffalo, for instance - also
offer a limited selection.
When purchasing any electrical apparatus, always
take care to follow the instructions for obtaining the guarantee.
This usually requires that you take the product home, or have it
delivered, and then return to the purchasing point within a specified
period of time in order to obtain an official stamp on the guarantee
paper. It is also a good idea to keep the receipt. Only in this
way will your guarantee be valid should you need it.
Should you have trouble with an appliance, rather
than contact the store where you purchased the item, the normal
procedure is to ring the manufacturer directly (find the telephone
number in the guarantee papers). However, when purchasing from some
department stores, an in-house maintenance service might be part
of the deal, so don't hesitate to ask.
