Position
Between Marbella and Estepona, a few minutes from the beach, a "drive and a wedge" from three golf courses.

How to get there
It is approx. 10 minutes from two highway exits and off the national road CN340. One must cross a charming pueblo with several local and a famous Belgian restaurant, a hardware store and a pharmacy where "if they don't have it now, they'll get it this afternoon sort or place". The local "centro de salud" or medical centre is open everyday except Sunday and you would be surprised at how efficient the Spanish social security system is.
Paquita's grocery store offers fresh fruit and vegetable and freshly baked bread, a relaxing 5 minutes bicycle ride from "La Concha"!

Architecture
It was so pleasant to discover "La Concha"; at last I thought, an architect who respects the original Andalusian country house style! Living in the sun is easy if your house has been designed by a professional who has actually lived in Spain. The cortijo style applies to country houses built around a central patio or courtyard with lots of terracotta terraces, all facing south east and west. Why? During the winter "levante" winds which come from the east, a west facing terrace makes all the difference and during hot summer days a shaded pergola makes life a luxury whilst the terracotta tiles absorb the heat instead of reflecting it as does marble.
No air conditioning is needed if all the main rooms are kept in the shade and this is when the interior patio invites a gentle and welcoming draft.

Views
Most artists who live on Costa del Sol are attracted sooner or later to the grey shell like La Concha mountain peak (see photo). A magnificent view of this mountain with the sun rising above it can be seen from the sitting room and main terrace. If you look to the right you can see the Mediterranean through the old palm trees over the secluded swimming pool and if you look left, the new golf course at Los Flamingos with its 5* Villa Paderna Italian renaissance style hotel and restaurant. The nature reserve rio Guadalmansa river walks are 5 minutes away - ideal for camping and fishing trips.

Surroundings
As luck would have it all neighbours live in similar grand houses thus making the area a secluded and private development of beautiful Spanish looking houses.
