According to local legend, the present house stands on the site of a Roman vineyard and indeed, the old wine vat and the stone grape treading area does look pretty ancient!

 

This Cortijo has been built and rebuilt over the centuries and exudes charm and character, though it could do with a major facelift.  The really exceptional thing about this house is its position on a large platform, surrounded by vines and lovely old trees. As a result of the 2002 land law, nothing can be built on rustic land unless it is agriculture, hotel or forest related.  The house, however, can be renovated or rebuilt.
