There are numerous remains of ancient watchtowers
in and around Baza;
- Torre Cinco Esquinas (the five
cornered tower)
Between the streets - Zapatería and Dolores.
- Torre Capel:
in the Baza valley
- Torre El Romeral
On the old Baza – Guadix road.
- Torre Espinosa
on the Benamaurel road.
- Torre Alcazaba
in the Alcazaba.
Each one of these watchtowers was strategically
placed and they all played an important role in the protection of
the town of Baza in times of fierce conflict. They are all of immense
historic interest.
