La Herradura is not as well-known among tourists as other resorts on the Costa Tropical and therefore doesn't have quite as many apartments and villas as elsewhere. The town is just 7km from the larger coastal town of Almuñécar, and therefore just a short drive from San Miguel Castle, the Roman aqueduct and historic Moorish monuments.
