Málaga Province - Tourism in Benarraba
Rural Tourism and Fiestas in Benarraba

Today a rural hotel exists in the village and positive attempts are being made to make the tourists feel at home. Green routes are being marked out which follow the old donkey trails, one of which drops down to the Genal river and is sign posted as the Ruta Rio Genal. This path leads on to the village of Genalguacil and up over the mountain pass to the coast.

The Patron Sain of Benarraba is San Sebastian and it's celebrated on the 20th of January. The fiesta of La Asuncion is celebrated on the 15th of August and San Miguel is celebrated on the 29th of September each year.

The village still maintains a radical element probably due to the neglect it has suffered from central government. During the general strike in June 2002, every business and public building had a sticker on it claiming that it was closed for the strike. No other village in the area so openly supported its affections
