Andalucia is the prefect place for the adventurous spirit.
By Sue Wolk
This region´s dramatic landscape with its breathtaking panoramic
views provides a wide range of routes for the adventurous spirit.

Some of the best known routes are as follows:
Route 1
Climbing up to the heights of the Sierra Nevada
from the villages of the Alpujarras on the south-facing slopes is
an exhilirating experience. There is a wonderful contrast between
the warm valleys and cool summits of these impressive mountains.
Route 2
The wild and unspoiled white sandy beaches of
the Costa de la Luz which run from Tarifa (Southern-most tip of
Andalucia) to Cadiz along the south coast offer plenty of scope
for galloping on a deserted beach or riding through the dunes.
Route 3
If it´s an authentic cowboy experience you´re
looking for, exploring the old Western Film Sets of the arid deserts
of Almeria might just be the answer!
Route 4
Following the old smugglers trails through the
cork woods as you wind your way through the hills which lead to
Ronda, is a firm favorite with riders of all ages and abilities.
Belinda Braithwaite, in her bestselling book "A Girl and a Horse and a Dog", describes her adventures as she rode her Andalucian horse, Dragon, 1700 miles from Sotogrande to Paris. The book includes a moving description of a bullfight in Ronda. Dragon lived in the stables at El Aguilon in Tarifa where he sadly died at the grand old age of 24 in 2006. The book may be reprinted. Express your interest in obtaining a copy by emailing Belinda.
