The Torremolinos nightlife is as varied as the crowds it attracts. Reputed to be the largest disco in Europe, Pipers on Avda de Palma has everything from stage performers to a plane suspended from the ceiling to keep the revellers amused.

Across the road, Paladium has early evening teenybopper times, while Atrevete, Avda salvador Allende opposite the Hotel Pez Espada in La Carihuela. This is a salsa venue with two dance floors and a real party atmosphere. Voltage, Pasaje Emilio Esteban, just off the north end of Avda Palma de Mallorca, the main bakalao joint where a youthful crowd enjoy deafening techno rhythms.

Grown-ups may prefer the foot-stomping flamenco at Taberna Pepe López, Plaza de la Gamba Alegre, or a night at the opera at the town's impressive new auditorium, Principe de Asturias, Calle Pedro Navarro Bruno ((95 237 95 18). Pick up a programme at the tourist office.
