Tourist Offices - While the local tourist office provides general information about the area, it is also a good place to find brochures for guided tours. An experienced desk clerk will also be able to tell you about local offerings that might not be aimed at the tourist market, such as nature walks provided by local experts who lead weekend expeditions.

Polideportivos - This is the municipal sports center. Especially in rural areas you might find interesting non-commercial tours. For example, recent offerings in Alhuarín de la Torre included guided mushroom picking treks and a whole fall programme of family walks and weekend excursions to historical sites near by.

Town Halls - As you can never be sure who holds the keys to information in a pueblo, it is worth a stop by the town hall to ask where to learn about your area of interest. Once directed to the appropriate association, you may find organized excursions and other opportunities.

Travel Agencies - These companies also offer day trips and weekend tours to all parts of Andalucia as well as Morocco and Portugal. Prices can often be quite economical and usually include meals and any lodging necessary. This is also a good way to make friends with Spaniards while you get to know their country.

Free Tours - Some companies offer tours that are free to participants provided they listen to sales spiels by those who subsidize they're day - or weekend away. To learn more about these tours, check with travel agencies and even property management offices in urbanisation. Some of these tours visit wineries, others take you to blanket factories in charming mountain villages. Of course you will have the opportunity to patronize local businesses.
