Re: Tax Form Modelo 210
Hi grazza, I bank with BBVA and spoke to the branch manager, who replied 'we cannot change your account identifier to correspond with your NIE as it is the bank's policy that foreigners are identified by their passport'. I assume that there is no law to mandate this and it is a policy that BBVA and ...

The card payment option also threw an error .... I guess for the same reason. Additionally, I tried a UK Bank card and as expected, it liked this even less. Anyhows ... a handy page for non resident tax payments for different modelos is here -> https://www.agenciatributaria.gob.es/AEAT.sede/en_gb/In...

Re: Tax Form Modelo 210
OK .... I think I've got to the root cause of this. I tried online at BBVA but they point me to the AEAT website to perform the online payment. For those in the future who need to make a payment and get an NRC, then the payment instructions can be found at https://www2.agenciatributaria.gob.es/sopor...

BACS has now been largely superseded by FPS but like BACS, deals with domestic payments only. In the UK, a lot of inter euro transactions happen over the SEPA network which is not fully integrated into BACS or FPS. Anyhow, hope I haven't sent you all to sleep. An ex consultant on BACS/SEPA/FPS .... ...

If you employed the worker directly, then there MAY be a possibility that you have some liability. If the worker worked for a contractor ... then you need to track down the contractors insurance documents for that period ... 'Seguro Accidentes para Convenios' and 'Seguro Colectivo de Vida Riesgo'. TDT Compatibility
Hi All, I am looking for a TV with Digital Terrestrial (TDT) for Spain, and prefer the Samsung. I have to purchase about 8 of them and suspect they may be cheaper in the UK. So the question is one of TDT Tuner compatibility given that the UK standards are DVB-T2 / C MHEG5, whilst Spain’s appear to b...

Re: Climate in the Mountains
If looking in to buy in the mountains/valey, a good general rule of thumb is to buy south facing and half way up the slope. If on the valley floor, you wont see much direct sunlight in the winter and if your south facing then you'll maximise the sun available to you. Half way up, protects you from t...

IHT and Business Assets
A quick question to the Guru's, In the UK, you get IHT relief on Business Assets as long as the business is still trading. I have a commercial property in Spain that a business of mine is currently trading from. How is this regarded for IHT purposes in Spain (as a resident or as a non resident)? Man...

Re: Won a Jamon.
Within the EU, meat and dairy products are fine to cross borders. The 'special restrictions' that were put in place at the time of foot and mouth have long since been recinded. Best thing would be to vacuum pack on a card (do you know a friendly bar or hotel manager?) or if not, clingfilm on card, i...

Re: Niza car hire not repaying deposits
I had a similar situation with a hire car company and used my Barclaycard Credit Card. I phoned them up and said that the amount had fraudulently been taken from my card and I was in dispute with the company. Credit Card companies don't pay the retailer for some time and Barclaycard put a 'stop' on ...

Re: New ID Card for Foreigners
Hi Unicorn,
Why are they getting in a tizz about a UK license. because the logo on the 'card' part clearly shows it's a European license issued in the UK?
Not trying to make a point but genuinely perplexed.

BlaBlaCar
From time to time on this forum, I've answered questions that relate in general to how the youngsters around us can move around Spain on the cheap and / or have an income. A few Spanish friends of ours have had their offspring use the services of www.blablacar.es to great effect, travelling around -...
