Re: Entry into Spain from UK

We have relatives with UK passports going to stay at our place for two weeks' holiday. They said they need proof of address. We are not renting the apartment - they are staying as guests. Does anyone know of a procedure for proof of address? The rules have been in place since jan 2021 when the tran...

Re: Car hire - big changes coming

The ITV seems pretty vigorous. Its a process you actively take part in rather than in the uk where you just hand the car over.you also have to go to a official independent ITV station (like in N.Ireland) unlike the uk where your local garage would either do it or take it to a mates who was licenced ...

Re: Tax Recovery

How does it work receiving rental income or paying repairs etc. if not having a UK bank account. Can Tenants just transfer to Spanish bank? Presumably they can Katy but then there'll be charges involved I imagine. Best to use something like Wise and have the money paid into there. That's one of the...

Re: Banks

Hi Everyone, Just wondering if any of you know of a UK bank that accepts new customers that are living in Spain. From the HMRC site: "You usually have to pay tax on your UK income even if you’re not a UK resident. Income includes things like: pension rental income savings interest wages If you’re eligible for a Personal Allowance you pay Income Tax on your income above that amount. Otherwise, you pay tax...

Re: Tax Recovery

You need to fill in a self assessment every year as your rental income is taxable in the UK.you get your uk allowance and if any tax is due you can offset what you pay in spain so you wont pay double. If the house is jointly owned you need to do one each. Its pretty easy. You just declare your renta...

Re: Tax Recovery

You need to get a certificate of spanish fisical residency from hacienda. Your gestor should have got it for you after you filed your tax return in 2021. Then you send that with your double tax hmrc form to HMRC and you will get a rebate. It can be abit complicated though as the tax years are differ...

Re: Is it worth swapping UK to Irish residency

Other than giving you freedom of movement which you already have via your irish passport imo i dont think there's much advantage to changing over if you are covered under the withdrawl treaty which you are . I think one of the posters did it on here a while back. You would have to fill in paperwork ...
