Re: Warning Light In Car

My original post about cleaning the sensor - it worked, and we sold the car with our house in 2017 having had no more problems. The buyer has contacted me since to as about little things with house and car and has not mentioned this, so safe to assume all is still well.

Re: DELPASO Car Hire – A cautionary tale.

I have always found that the hirers in the UK are just as keen to check for damage, even though the costs are more like a bottle of good brandy per day..Best quote I have had for 32 days in a Corsa is £666, and this from a company that does not surcharge for "Senior Drivers". Maybe until t...

Re: Transferring house sale money to UK

Be careful that you know which transfer firm you are signing up to - I found the process onerous and not helped that I lost track whether it was Currencies Direct or Currency Direct that I was intending to use.

Re: Permanent residence

We bought a static caravan in the UK last year and had no problem registering with a practice local to the leisure park. They took a copy of my prescription list and dispensed everything I needed, although I had got an extra supply of my insulin to take in case there was a problem. The bonus was tha...

The unit on the top is a demand valve, when a tap is opened the pressure in the out pipe drops and the valve turns the pump on.

Re: Deposito water pressure?

The norm is for a pumped system with a demand valve to start the pump. There is little point putting a water tank on the roof as it will be exposed to the sun making it always lukewarm, plus with a litre of water weighing a kilo that is a lot of weight to be supported. Our deposito was at ground lev...

Re: 10% Deposit for property

The buyers lawyer received their 10% payment when we sold in August. And it was paid over to us by them fairly quickly and a month or so before completion. Translation possibly...The buyers paid the 10% deposit to their lawyers when we sold our house in August, and those lawyers paid it over to us ...

Friends who rented through a Brit agency had to have aircon and uk tv/internet before they would list them, and that was 4 or 5 years ago.

Re: Buying a rural property - are any legal??

You may find that your neighbours do not care what they put down the loos and sinks. If they are town-dwellers their main home will have mains drainage so they may be used to using toilet cleansing chemicals and flushing items other than a minimum of toilet tissue and human waste, which will soon ki...

If you get caught out you could try a run into the country and get a test at Antequerra - appointments available tomorrow for example.

Re: UK Civil Service Pensions post Brexit

Bulk emailing needs to have check mails sprinkled through the list, to arrive at a monitoring destination, as a check that the mail has not only gone but has been received. Fulfilment houses look for the best deals for postage, and surprisingly big savings can be made by looking for the best deal, w...

Re houses: it can take years to sell a house in Spain, so if you need to move quickly you may be stuck. If you rent you can walk away for only the loss of a deposit and a bit of rent, and you keep your capital.

Re: UK Civil Service Pensions post Brexit

AFAIK all pension providers try to check that the pensioner is still alive and living at the same address. My OH got the same letter (signed, scanned & emailed back) and I have had them in the past from a pension provider. It is a bit of a farce really, as if said pensioner has died and their oth...

Take a drive inland a few kms to Trapiche. The restaurant El Trapiche used to have a monthly dance with dinner in aid of Cudeca. Not sure if it still runs but you could have a drink/tapa or the good value menu del dia and check it out.

Re: Keeping Fiscal Documents

You could always scan all documents over, say seven years old, then dump those originals. An app like Scanbot on your phone or tablet should let you save things as PDFs for best legibility. A "happy" few hours snapping away!
