Re: Mesh wifi systems

Quite right Gerry - as a secondary question. The fibre people up here offer an IPTV add-on, but no catch-up only “recording by USB” whatever that is. We have been thoroughly spoilt by 3 months in UK with all that Freeview offers, so seek catch-up and subtitles with a good set of channels, HD & SD.

Re: Mesh wifi systems

Thanks chaps - helpful as always. I had not thought about the amazon "try and return" although this seems a bit unethical. Running ethernet cable to the upper floors is not practical, and to be of most use would need a router to give wifi as well as internet, and there are no power sockets near the ...

Mesh wifi systems

Looking at a 3-unit Linksys Mesh set-up to get coverage in a 3-storey townhouse - has anyone any experience of these and do they work well? At last there is the availability of 100Mbps Optical fibre in our street, so if I go down that route want to get the best from it! Any recommendations of a reli...

I would be more worried about the tax authorities thinking you had undeclared (on Form 720) property outside Spain.

Re: Certificate of Permanent Residence/T.I.E

This thread is making me feel superior that I followed my normal mantra - wait until things are tried and tested, and only change when you have to.

Re: First actual problem re:Brexit

What is getting at me is the way that everything that is not working like it should is being blamed on the pandemic. You cannot buy a garden chair, or a shed, or a face-to-face appointment with a doctor, Citizens’ Advice office, a flight to/from where you want, when you want it....the list goes on.

Barclays arbitraly closed my OH's Barclaycard account (that she had held for over 20 years) back in 2008 or 2009 IIRC.

Re: Almond and Carob harvesting questions

We had some pretty big carob trees when we lived in Comares, and our neighbour asked if he could harvest them to sell. He and his elderly father managed 5 or 6 sacks of fruit in a day, but realised that the €7 a sack they got for them was a pretty poor return, and never asked us again.

Re: T.I.E

Definitely pay at the bank - be aware that some banks restrict the hours you can make such a payment, probably to stop all these small payments filling a big queue.

Re: Coronavirus

If you do not see the risks of bridge you cannot be a card player....usually clubs play 27 hands in a session, so the cards are predealt into carriers that pass from table to table. Players take the cards out of their pocket on the carrier, manually count them, sort them into suits and value. They t...

Re: Coronavirus

Keep an eye out for a spike around Nerja - I have just read that two of the bridge clubs have been playing, despite all the risks inherent in sitting 4 to a table, handling playing cards, bidding cards, and being in closed rooms. Nerja Bridge Club restarted on the 3rd July (!) and Trumps on the 3rd ...

Re: Coronavirus

It is looking more and more that the wisest ones are those who decided this was not the year to go anywhere...and I exclude ourselves from the wise, as we are in Yorkshire, wondering if we will ever get back! The weather is more tolerable but adherence to guidelines patchy at best - we felt safer in...
