Re: Intelsat 907 / Satback Update - Major News!!!

Here's an article by CNBC basically confirming what satandpcguy has already told us: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/17/northrop-grumman-mev-1-spacecraft-services-intelsat-901-satellite.html What I found interesting was the statement that "MEV-1 will provide five years of life extension services to the...

Re: Internet banking

I've been with ING Direct for about six years now and overall I am very happy with them. With their 'cuenta nomina' there is no charge to maintain the account provided you either have a regular salary/pension payment coming in, or maintain a minimum balance of (I think) 2000 €. They only have one br...

So pleased to hear that Maria Cristina is OK. I've never met her (or anyone else on the forum as far as I know), but from her posts she seems to be a very kind lady.

Re: Andalucian Rug

I'm guessing the OP meant rug as that is what the title of the thread shows (the B and G keys are next to each other on the keyboard). Carrotmuseum, if what you are looking for is a traditional Alpujarran rug (jarapa alpujarrena) then the best place to get them is in the Alpujarra region itself. If ...

Re: Desktop computer without wifi

Hi there Does anyone know if I buy a desktop computer that has ethernet but not wifi, do I have to put an antenna on to get wifi to work the wireless printer? If so does any antenna that is for wifi work OK? Cheers Unicorn, I think the basic answer to your question is "no." As long as the desktop c...

Onsicom

I've been looking at the possibility of moving from Movistar to Onsicom for my fibre optic internet and mobile phone service, as for the same price (around €49 per month) I can get higher data bandwidth (300 Mb/s vs. 100 Mb/s), a higher monthly mobile data allowance (12 GB vs. 2 GB) and unlimited mo...

Just on the subject of getting an appointment at the Policia Nacional foreigners' office... A couple of months or so ago I needed to change the address on my green NIE card so I tried to get an an appointment via the cita previa website. After I selected Reino Unido as my nationality a message appea...

Re: Windows 10 - 1903

Hi Enrique, On my HP Envy laptop running Windows 10 Pro I also see the 'your device isn't quite ready for it' message. I clicked on the 'learn more' button (not always very fruitful where Microsoft is concerned  ) and it took me to a '1903 status' page* where it states the following: Current s...

Re: IKEA Malaga

When I bought some furniture recently at Ikea Malaga the lady who did the wardrobe design work on the computer told me that there were two options for delivery - either the 'official' Ikea delivery service (49 € to anywhere in Malaga province), or an outfit called HelloVan, who have a spot just outs...

Re: La Renta 2018 UK Rental Income - Tenant Identification

I asked my gestor about this and he thinks there is a box that can be ticked which enables just the nationality of the tenant(s) to be entered. This apparent new requirement potentially affects me too but I won't know for sure what the options are until my declaración de la renta gets finalised for ...

Re: Drinking water at airports

It's good that there are now drinking fountains at some airports again. At Malaga they are not at every toilet but (for example) the facilities at the far end of the 'old' Terminal B pier have one. (I still can't get used to calling what I always called the 'new' terminal the 'old' one). At Gatwick ...

Re: Skype New Version 8.3

I really dislike Skype v8 too, not least because you can no longer keep separate chat windows open with that version. I had an online chat session with Microsoft support recently to feed back my views and they opened a support ticket to pass them on to the development team, not that I expect much to...

Re: Residence Registration No Healthcare

As Sid implies, it seems that the implications of the new healthcare coverage arrangements are still filtering through to other areas including 'residencia' requirements. CAB Spain have been collating information on this: https://www.citizensadvice.org.es/faq/new-universal-healthcare-law-july-27-201...

Re: Residencia in Malag

Well yes, that was what I had to do four years ago as a non-pensioner. But the 'rules' may well have changed since then, hence the suggestion to ask at the relevant police station in advance if possible.

Re: Residencia in Malag

Gerry makes a valid point here... Isn't there a National Police station nearer to you than Malaga? The only way of finding out what their current requirements are, they can vary day to day, is to go and ask them. Last year I helped a friend get his 'residencia' and when we went to the main Policia i...

An American acquaintance of mine once said, "Hey, any noun can be verbed!"

Here's hoping this all gets straightened out before March; although Sid's conclusion does seem perfectly logical to me.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your visits to the Chicken Shack. I've also been caught out by it being closed a couple of times in the past, so I try to remember to phone now before going. I know what you mean about being charged for olives; sadly the same thing happens in many other places these days, wi...
