Re: Mesh wifi systems

The fibre people up here offer an IPTV add-on, but no catch-up only “recording by USB” whatever that is. Normally you just attach a USB stick or disk into the receiver and you can record on to it. I have that on my I907 box. The biggest advantage is that you can pause what you are watching. If the ...

Re: Mesh wifi systems

How about getting the installers to connect the fibre cable (very thin) to their router on the second floor? They would just run it up the wall and drill into a room at that level. If you have a telephone point close they can wire in your phone system. Easy job as phone cables are thin and easy to r...

Re: Payment of outstanding bills

Absolutely agree. There is no point in pratting around worrying about the way the Spanish utilities etc give you the run around. This is Spain, get used to it.

Just do a direct debit like most people do or move somewhere else where they will do it your way (good luck finding such a place).

Why do you not put them on a direct debit?

Re: Should I or should I not apply for residency/TIE

It would be difficult for Boris to do a deal with Spain as they are bound by the Schengen Agreement and do not have the ability to change it unilaterally.

Re: Should I or should I not apply for residency/TIE

If you apply for residency you will be deemed tax resident because to retain residency you must be physically resident for 6 months.

That will scupper your plans straight away.

Re: Certificate of Permanent Residence/T.I.E

They will not suddenly say that you have to convert to a TIE. That is clearly stated in all the government websites. That said, I think it’s a useful change and I will do it when getting an an appointment is easier, which will probably be when we are into 2021 and all the new applicants have either ...

La Sardina, in La Herradura is our favourite fish restaurant. It's very smart and on the beach - covid friendly. On road parking though but plenty of spaces nearby.

Re: Gift & inheritance tax

Elusive has answered most of your questions.

Sadly, any gifts or bequests to or from "step" relatives are treated the same as non relatives so only the basic state allowances apply. The bequest from your mother would attract the full allowance.

Re: First actual problem re:Brexit

Yes, my Visa card was a credit card, my Mastercard is a debit card.

I think the Brexit complication is with credit, not debit cards. Using a credit card means that a UK bank is offering a "loan" outside of the UK. A debit card is not nearly so complicated - its just an electronic money transfer.

If you use the Apple Pencil on the Air or iPad Pro, it now reads handwriting, scribble even, and immediately converts it to text. It can be used in any field that allows text entry. If you want to draw a shape, it corrects it for you - perfect circles at last!

It's been available as a Public Beta version for some time. Same with iPad OS 14, watch OS7 and OSX Big Sur. It's available to anyone who asks.
