Re: Charco Negro, Loja

I understand that Venta del Rayo & Riofrio was very active in the civil war, there is a you tube clip available if you search Venta del Rayo guerra civil. Spanish acquaintances tell me that grandparents of some of the current restaurant owners in the area fought on opposite sides, for example, but n...

Re: Charco Negro, Loja

Thank you all Olive for the extremely detailed and descriptive response, thank you also Benidorm for the historical facts. It really is a beautiful and indeed historical area. You both are wordsmiths and the Tourism team at Loja Ayuntamiento could do worse that "cutting and pasting" your posts on Si...

Charco Negro, Loja

Despite enjoying countless walks and trails around Loja I've never made it up to Charco Negro, Sierra de Loja. I'm aware that there is a driveable track accessed near the Guardia Civil's site in Loja but has anyone done the drive to the top. I'm fine with heights but steep inclines less so. Is it a ...

Re: Ryanair to Southend

And the good thing about the Ryanair flights is the timing, around 1pm departure from Southend. WIll get you into Malaga at a far more reasonable time than the 4.45pm Easyjet Southend departures. The only concern is that Ryanair appear to be duplicating the Easyjet routes from Southend and whilst th...

Telephone Cable crossing above veranda of property

A slightly trickly moral dilemma greeted me on arrival at my house last week. An elderly neighbour has had a new telephone/internet connection installed and the cable running from his house to the new telephone poll traverses the first floor veranda of my property, I could, if I wanted to, reach up ...

Re: Attending Court Loja, Granada

Thank you, I'll have a go and call the Court next week.
EDIT: Just posting an update in case it's useful to anyone else. As with Gerry's experience a quick call to the Court and advised a Translator will be provided on the day.

Attending Court Loja, Granada

I will be attending Court in July as part of the prosecution process following a Burglary in my house, where I was the victim and the offender arrested. I've completed formalities at the police station in Loja and now have a Court date. Whilst I speak some Spanish I'm not confident it will be of a s...

I would second Almazara but Hotel Llano Pino is also a good choice.

Re: Comments and queries re FAQ for Non-resident income tax

Hi all, following on from my previous post I thought I would try and make my thoughts clearer on 'Making payments online from a spanish or foreign bank account if you do NOT have a digital certificate'... Go to the modelo 210 homepage in English https://www.agenciatributaria.gob.es/AEAT.sede/en_gb/...

Hi Adamski,
Many thanks for your clear instructions - I have finally managed to generate a pdf!

Thanks again, and Enrique - apologies for not correctly following posting etiquette.

Re: Comments and queries re FAQ for Non-resident income tax

At the risk of a big groan from those more experienced in completing 210 than me.... I have a grasp of the calculations required to complete the 210 form, I have a Spanish NIE and bank account and am quite happy to submit the forms at the bank when I'm next in Spain. When I access the the Agencia Tr...

Re: Non Resident Bank account

I appreciate I'm after the event and you've found a bank account that works for you but for reference, and to echo Enrique's comments, I would definitely put a recommendation in for Caja Rural. They have been extremely helpful to me over the years and gone far beyond levels of service you would ever...

Loja - senderos / walking hiking routes

We've enjoyed several routes in the Loja/Riofrio/Venta del Rayo area and wish to add a hike up to the "Cross" to the list. One problem, my partner isn't great with a combination of a narrow path and a sharp drop! Has anyone walked up to "La Cruz" and could provide a description of the route please? ...

Re: SO...Is Spain a Safe Place To Move To..?

Gordon, a very interesting topic you raise. I support the view that, of course, it depends where you live. But Spain has special factors that that I believe help, especially in smaller towns and villages, keep crime levels low. In general terms, religion and community appear to ensure that there is ...

Re: The Frustrations of Unicaja

Wow that does sound frustrating. My bank is Caja Rural de Granada and I haven't been subjected to any such additional information requests but am aware (from this and other forums) that some banks are asking for proof of source of income etc. Given the IBI bill issue as well it may, if the situation...

Re: Builder - recommend English speaking

We arranged for a Spanish builder who did an excellent job in reforming an old property in the Loja area, probably too far away from you but we got in touch with him through recommendation and "word of mouth" in the local Spanish bar. I think this is definitely the way to go, employing the services ...

Re: Outgoing passport control delays, Malaga

I flew back to London last Friday (12th) via C gate/Easyjet and also received a warning message regarding security checks. However the queues were minimal and the passport check was as cursory as normal. Perhaps it was just due to lucky timing? I've learnt to stop by the Easyjet ticket desk before p...
