Re: Private health insurance

Not quite sure what you mean as you cant apply for residents status unless you have private healthcare (unless you have an S1 etc) Ok, I went to register at the police station at my appointed time, i was rejected because I don't yet have an S1, long story, they told me that in the absence of an S1 ...

Re: Private health insurance

I have recently been diagnosed with a stage one tumour on my bladder, As I am not yet in the Spanish health system I have been paying for various consultations, ultra sound etc at private clinics who seem to be treating me as a cash machine. I am not worried at this point as I will hopefully be with...

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there is a just giving facility in Spain, try contacting the local charities commission, they may be able to help!

Re: Certificate of Permanent Residence

Just to follow up. We successfully obtained our certificates of permanent residence yesterday. It was all very easy. We were called 30minutes after our appointment time and left an hour later with the certificates. It took so long because once having made the application at one of the desks we then...

Re: Any help for elderly person on their own?

You don't say how old your neighbour is. The separation from his wife is likely the root of the problem. I know of a British neighbour here who is living in similar conditions, he's been here for 4 or 5 years and got divorced from his wife last year and is also not very well off, he's 71 and is clea...

Why can't you just have your pensions paid directly to a Spanish account.

Re: Vodafone SIM card for watching TV

I don't know about the T V thing, someone else may know the answer but I have an orange package with unlimited, internet unlimited msm's and 200 mins talk time, it varies by a few cents per month but roughly the same as Gerry. As far as I'm aware you can buy tailored packages for the T V separate fr...

Re: Cyclists

I abhor those electric scooters, the time will come, and it's fast approaching, when they will be more dangerous than cycles, I witnessed an incident here some weeks a go where a moron turned into a blind alley without slowing down and knocked an old lady down, I can say with all honesty that he was...

Re: Cyclists

Mr Pumpkin, one question please. Do you consider that all Bicycles should legally have to have a working bell fitted as an audible warning device for pedestrians and other road hazards? Yes, in exactly the same way a car does. Although I find my voice is more effective, louder and quicker to activa...

Re: Any providers of Travel Insurance to Spain despite the FCO advise?

This is only my opinion but I would not trust any insurance company to pay up for any thing any where, any time in the foreseeable future you can be absolutely certain that they will take your money but getting them to pay up will be another matter, as I said only my opinion !

As Katy says. El Corte Ingles, If they don't have it in stock they will order it for you, Quinta do Noval 2005 is ok, around €25.00 :-) !
