Unfortunately I don't really have any useful advice here but I would like to see what responses you get :)

Re: Opening Bank Account before moving over

Just in case anyone else needs this info. I went into Sabadell in Torrox last week, they can open an account with just a passport and if you can pay in 700 Euros per month there are no fees (they don't care if you take it straight out again either), also on this account, they give you 3% back on you...

Re: Axarquia micr climate

I'm in Torrox now, yesterday was chilly and rainy but today I'm sat in the square in Torrox pueblo in the sun, very nice :)

Tomorrow looks a bit rainy and of course, Friday when I leave is the best day!

Good to see a place in the cold and rain though, I liked it then so all is good :)

Re: RENTAL SITES

I have rented a property on the Torrox / Frigliana road and I trawled the internet for months. When I came over to view several properties, I was extremely frustrated by unprofessional estate agents and their attitude to customer service. I had a specific list of requirements and most of the estate...

Hi, just reading this and your question is pretty similar to what I want to know.

Where did you end up then? :)

Re: Brittany ferries new economy service

Just a quick question, may be a daft one but, where do doggies on a ferry go and do their business?

Re: Pimsleur Spanish

I've been studying with Open University and love it, obviously, as you say, the best way will be to mix with and talk to locals but great to have some to be able to communicate and to build on. I have hundreds of Spanish books, I love the language :) I also find watching Spanish things on YouTube (w...

Re: Equivalent of council tax

Thanks all, that's great then, one less cost to worry about for the first couple of years then, and plenty to think about when it comes to buying at a later date :) :)

Re: Equivalent of council tax

Hi Beachcomber,

I'll be renting first, so I'm just currently getting together a list of costs, currently still in the UK. I'll be looking at renting a 2/3 bed property in Torrox, I have a rough idea of the prices of the kind of properties I'm interested in, I'm just not sure of the IBI amounts :)

Light reading? Hmmm, why do I think it might not be so light ;-) I'll grab that for when I can't sleep haha!

Thanks for your help :D

Re: Equivalent of council tax

Thanks Enrique,

So that's something that the agent can tell me about each property then I would expect. Do you find water is expensive per whatever it's measured in? - not an important question, just curious really :)

Equivalent of council tax

Hi there,

From what I've read on Google etc I believe the equivalent of council tax is IBI? Can anybody give me a basic outline of how it works there and does anybody know what kind of amount it is in Torrox? Also, is water there metered or charged at a set price? :D

Re: Brittany ferries new economy service

This is great! I was wondering what happened to dogs on the ferry, I was told they had to be elsewhere on their own which I wasn't keen on at all. He's not a big dog so I'd be happy to share a cabin with him. Fab! Thanks for posting this up :) :) :)

Eeuuugghhh Gasman! They sound horrible! Toby says he doesn't want any of them on him and can I please find him a repellent or something to make sure he doesn't get anything nasty like that ;-) Ticks here don't really cause many problems, although I gather you have to screw them out rather tha...
